STD – Standard Costing

STD Standard Costing enables you to determine the production costs or cost of sales of your products. It also allows you to determine, evaluate, and analyze the costs in terms of units or lot sizes.

Employment of STD requires that the module COM Cost Object Management is used. Based on the ERP application BPCS™ from SSA Global, STD utilizes the database integrated in BPCS™ to meet the requirements on standard costing. STD calculates both the purchased materials as well as the semi-finished products and finished products at standard prices and simultaneously evaluates consumption of materials and the manufacturing processes at user-definable standard prices. Based on these calculations, STD maintains these costs using different cost sets (approaches for valuation). Within this process, STD continuously differentiates cost prices respectively production costs by cost types (cost buckets) across all production stages. In detail, the STD module stands out by the following functions:

  • Calculation parameters

Individual selections of calculation parameters, such as quantities, bills of material, work plan options, validity periods, or single- or multi-level explosion of BOM and routings.

  • Purchased / produced parts

In addition to the calculation of the manufacturing costs for produced articles, the purchase costs for all purchased parts can be calculated (e.g. adding standardized ancillary costs, such as freight, customs, et cetera). (e.g. adding imputed additional delivery costs, such as freight, customs, etc.)

  • Evaluation

Free choice of BPCS™ / CST Cost Set for the evaluation of purchased items (raw materials, packing materials, etc.) In order to evaluate the direct hours consumed (wage, machine, and set-up hours) as well as the production overhead costs, the cost rates determined in the cost center planning are used.

  • Reports

Possibility to define any desired number of reports to present respectively summarize calculations with different respects. The number of calculation options is unlimited, enabling you to perform various comparisons in terms of cost development.

  • Transfer of costs

The item-related calculation results are submitted to the cost file (CMF) in the ERP system.
